Assistant Food and Beverage Manager Job
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Director of Food & Beverage
SUMMARY:
Assist in the management of poolside restaurant and bar, banquet, a la carte operations and training of the Food and Beverage Staff for front of house operations. Report directly to the Director of Food and Beverage.
This position is geared towards an individual who is looking to gain career experience in the private sector of the food and beverage industry. This individual will be exposed to a more comprehensive approach to food and beverage as opposed to being strictly service based as well as having the opportunity to hone and sharpen those service-based skills. We are looking for someone who is serious about furthering their career in the food and beverage industry and looking to contribute to the upward trajectory of the department.
Job Duties
  • Assure that effective orientation and training for new staff and professional development activities are maintained for new and existing staff.
  • Inspect and ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management, and preventive maintenance programs are followed.
  • Assure all standard operating procedures for sales and cost control are in place and consistently utilized.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies to promote food and beverage offerings and attract new members and guests.
  • Help in the planning of staffing and scheduling procedures as needed.
  • Help directly with inventory management and ordering.
  • Help ensure quality of service is being maintained in all food and beverage outlets.
  • Help establish quantity and quality output standards for personnel in all positions within the department.
  • Ensure all legal requirements are consistently adhered to, including wage and hour and federal, state and or local laws pertaining to alcoholic beverages.
  • Implement and enforce policies and procedures for food and beverage personnel.
  • Meet and greet guests and respond to guest inquiries, requests and issues in a timely, friendly and efficient manner and resolve guest concerns.
  • Meet and greet members and guests, respond to guest inquiries, requests and issues in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner and resolve member’s and guest concerns.
  • Implements on-going training programs for food service and bar service.
  • Develop interesting ways of promoting club functions in the dining room and lounges.
  • Help implement Club Social and Private events at the club.
  • Help Bartend at special events and step in wherever needed to provide service.
  • Amend, audit and manage point of sale system.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the General Manager, Director of Clubhouse Operations or Director of Food & Beverage.
Supervises:
  • Temporary, Seasonal, Part Time and Full Time Servers, Interns, Banquet Servers, Manager(s) in Training, Service Captains, Bussers, Food Runners, Bartenders and Service Managers in absence of Director of Food and Beverage.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 2 years’ experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and food and beverage management software.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer service and creating memorable dining experiences for members and guests.
